Navaratri Celebrations — 2022

On the 5th of October, the students and the faculty of Spectrum Institute of Science and Technology joined hands to celebrate a day filled with beautiful traditions and ritualistic practices loaded with amusement, food and joy.

Navaratri is one of the most vibrant and elaborate festivals of Hinduism, spanning 9 days of worship and veneration. It is a celebration devoting 3 days each to the Hindu deities Durga, Lakshmi, and Saraswati. Devotees venerate the goddesses for their blessings of courage, wealth, and knowledge, respectively.

The basis of the festival is the celebration of a battle that triumphs over evil. This year Navratri began on September 26th and ended on October 5th.

The premise was decorated with a vibrant kolam drawing and other traditional flower and leaf decor. The tradition of keeping Kolu was practiced, which was represented by the miniature form of gods, goddesses, animals, birds, spiritual personalities and artwork.

Ritualistic practices took place as the first event and the auditorium was filled with many breathtaking events which represented Hindu traditions and the importance of Navaratri.

The gathering was served with traditional refreshments and sweetmeats such as aval, pongal, kolukattai, vade and laddu at the end of the proceedings.

It was a day brimming with happiness and fun. A special thanks goes to the SSS and the organizing committee as well as the faculty for making this all possible and providing a chance to rejoice and create priceless memories.
